i still feel full of luv from this past valentine's day weekend <333 it made me think about how demons face something called lovesickness from time to time ! here's a snippet of a something i wrote about two demons, one who has lovesickness:

Cin/Satori interviews a lovesick demon named Kam who is about to get married to his girlfriend Wednesday to cure his illness. However, Kam doesn’t have a crush on Wednesday; it’s someone else. He refuses to tell his crush because he feels like it would be the most disrespectful thing to act on his feelings for someone else. He eventually dies from this, but Wednesday does a good job at keeping his passing private from friends. She carries a framed picture of Kam everywhere and everyone just assumes it’s because she’s so crazy about him and disregards it

~Lovesickness - Causes, Symptoms and Common Misconceptions~

so what IS lovesickness ?? it's when a demon has a serious crush on someone but won’t tell them how they feel, so their body experiences a cold/flu-like sickness . and the only cure for it is for the demon to tell their crush they like them !

ok we know what it is, soooo what are the symptoms ? we got heart shaped eyes or pupils, runny nose, constant/consistent blush over cheeks and ears, and a significant decrease in their overall immune system, allowing other sicknesses from places outside of Undertown to get in .
​harsher symptoms like dizziness/vomiting when around their crush, excessive drooling, intense dreams/nightmares and sweaty palms can also occur . but this is if the lovesick demon has held onto their feelings for their crush for a long time, around a month after initial symptoms appear (wow it's hard to not talk like an ad for some sort of medication when talking about symptoms lmao).

i feel the need to go over what lovesickness is NOT as well, since sometimes there are demons who use this common illness as an excuse to be gross and out of pocket .
​FAKE symptoms of lovesickness: heightened arousal/intense sexual urges, "can't help themselves" from being handsy with their crush, backed-up NRG (which is like the demon equivalent to 'blue balls' i guess) and hearing loss . these are not signs of lovesickness, these are signs of a creep !
​you can tell if someone is actually lovesick based off the #1 symptom of heart-shaped eyes or pupils . even though most demons are able to shapeshift, they usually can't hold a different form for too long . lovesick eyes are a constant heart shape, from the moment they get sick to the moment they confess . if a demon has those big symptoms along with the fake ones, well they're sick AND a creep !!!

~How To Stop Being Lovesick~

so let's say you're lovesick . you got 2 options to move forward: tell your crush your feelings or keep them to yourself . which one are you doing ?
​if you tell your crush how you feel, all the symptoms go away almost immediately ! even if the feelings aren't mutual, your body will stop holding the feelings inside and in turn, stops being sick . but there is a fable/myth that relationships that start with the couple being lovesick last longer ! so here's hoping your crush likes you back~

sometimes you can even get lovesick for someone you ALREADY LOVE ! this happens usually as a sign to take things a step further or more serious, or to do a big lovey dovey gesture to shake the lovesickness off <333 that's why Kam and Wednesday were getting married !

but maybe you're in an unfortunate or awkward position where you can't simply tell your crush your feelings . if it really is a difficult task to confess, you'll probably end up taking lots of medicine to avoid getting some worse disease that could kill you, and not go outside in public spaces much . so really make sure that you can't confess your love for your crush ! Kam unfortunately caught a highly dangerous disease from a far off planet (he's a No Location Limit demon, he traveled a lot more than he should have while being lovesick) that killed him in the end because his immune system was too weak to fight the infection off .

Wednesday knew once they got married and Kam was still sick that he had feelings for someone else, and she even encouraged him to confess to them so they could move on and he'd be healthy again . but Kam was scared of expressing his love to someone other than Wednesday-he wanted the love to just go away already but couldn't bring himself to confess and hurt Wednesday's feelings .

some might think he's noble, i think he was an idiot, and i think Wednesday would agree lol ..RIP Kam tho-if he had confessed he'd find out his crush didn't even like his favorite bands and he would have gotten the ick, but he held it inside until he couldn't anymore v.v don't be a Kam !!!

for real though, if you were lovesick, would you tell your crush your feelings, or stay sick ?? i've always been the type to immediately tell my crushes i'm into them so i don't think i'd be sick for very long lmao . sending you lots of non contagious kisses <333
